AGRICULTURAL QUARTERLY PRICE INDICES, 2026 –
Provisional Data

Since 2024, agricultural quarterly price indices have been calculated on the basis of 2020 in accordance with Eurostat recommendations.

In the second quarter of 2026, the average producer prices of agricultural goods output increased by 55.9% compared to 2020 and by 3.9% compared to the same quarter of 2025.

The prices of crop products output were 60.0% higher compared to 2020 and 7.0% higher compared to the same quarter of 2025.

Compared to the same period of the previous year, prices increased in all groups of crop products that have the largest share in crop production. Prices increased in the groups of wine, by 14.0%, of forage plants, by 13.5%, of vegetables, flowers and plants, by 9.3, and of cereals, by 0.1%.

The prices of livestock, poultry, and animal products output increased by 52.4% compared to 2020 and by 1.4% compared to the same quarter of 2025.

As regards the groups of products that have the largest share in livestock production, the prices of cattle increased by 12.1% and the prices of poultry by 0.8%, whereas the prices of pigs decreased by 19.7% and the prices of milk by 1.0%, as compared to the same quarter of 2025.

The prices of goods and services currently consumed in agriculture (input I) increased by 54.9% in the second quarter of 2026 compared to 2020 and by 8.7% compared to the same quarter of 2025, which was influenced by an increase in the prices of energy, fertilisers and animal feedingstuffs.

NOTES ON METHODOLOGY

Sources and methods of data collection

The agricultural price indices for the Republic of Croatia have been calculated on the basis of the data on prices obtained through the quarterly surveys on the purchase and sale of agricultural products as well as through other surveys carried out by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, from administrative data of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and from other administrative sources.

The price indices in agriculture in the Republic of Croatia have been calculated on the 2005 basis within the national Phare 2005 Programme for the first time and the methodology used has been harmonised according to Eurostat recommendations.

Since 2024, the indices have been calculated on the 2020 basis.

The structure of weights is reviewed every five years according to the Eurostat methodology for agricultural price statistics, which means that the calculation of price indices is influenced by the weight structure from the base year. The Laspeyres formula is used to calculate the price indices.

The weight structure was calculated on the basis of the share of individual products in the purchase and sale of agricultural products as well as on the basis of the value of agricultural production and intermediate consumption from the agricultural economic accounts.

Coverage

The agricultural price indices are calculated at the level of the Republic of Croatia.

Definitions

Price index of agricultural goods output includes crop and animal output (livestock, poultry and animal products).

Input I includes goods and services currently consumed in agriculture.

Goods are all products except services.

Services include the maintenance of materials (machines and materials), agricultural buildings and other services.
