PERSONS IN EMPLOYMENT IN CRAFTS AND TRADES AND FREE LANCES, FOURTH QUARTER OF 2025

In December 2025, as compared to November of the same year, the number of persons in employment in crafts and trades and free lances decreased by 1.1% and the number of women by 0.9%.

An increase in the number of persons in employment was recorded in section P (Education), amounting to 0.1%. A decrease in the number of persons in employment was recorded in 18 activity sections, ranging from 0.3% in section J (Information and communication) to 26.4% in section B (Mining and quarrying).

The comparison of the number of persons in employment by counties shows that no increase was recorded in any county. A decrease in the number of persons in employment was recorded in all counties, ranging from 0.1% in the County of Osijek-Baranja to 2.7% in both the County of Lika-Senj and the County of Dubrovnik-Neretva.

NOTES ON METHODOLOGY

Data source

The data on persons in employment in crafts and trades and free lances are taken over from the records of active insured persons of the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute every month in the year with the situation as on the last day of the month.

These data cover the owners and employees registered with the offices of the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute.

Definitions

Owner of craft or trade or free lance is a person who founded, using his or her own financial resources, a craft or a trade shop or a free lance in which he or she performs an activity, on own behalf and on own account, alone or with employees.

Employee in crafts and trades and free lances is a person who signed a working contract with an employer for either an indefinite or a definite period of time.

Territorial constitution

The data are presented according to NKD 2007 sections and the territorial constitution defined in the Act on Territories of Counties, Towns and Municipalities in the Republic of Croatia (NN, Nos 86/06, 125/06, 16/07, 95/08, 46/10, 145/10, 37/13, 44/13, 45/13 and 110/15).
