The total traffic of passengers in Croatian airports amounted to 2 193 thousand in August 2024, which was 12.7% more than in August 2023, when the total traffic of passengers amounted to 1 946 thousand.
The largest traffic of passengers was recorded in the Split Airport, with 724 thousand passengers, which was an increase of 7.0% compared to August 2023, when the traffic of passengers amounted to 676 thousand. The Dubrovnik Airport followed, with 529 thousand passengers, which was an increase of 19.5% compared to August 2023, and the Zagreb Airport, with 437 thousand passengers, which was an increase of 14.5% compared to August 2023.
The most significant international traffic of passengers was realised with German airports, 391 thousand passengers, which was an increase of 9.1% compared to August 2023. The airports of the United Kingdom followed, with 359 thousand passengers, which was 7.9% more than in the same period of the previous year, and the airports of France, with 196 thousand passengers, which was an increase of 11.7% compared to the same period of the previous year.
The total number of landings and take-offs in airports in August 2024 amounted to 20 774 movements, which was 12.3% more than in August 2023, when the total number of landings and take-offs in airports amounted to 18 506 movements.
The total traffic of freight in airports in August 2024 amounted to 932 tonnes, which was an increase of 40.4% compared to August 2023, when the total traffic of freight in airports amounted to 664 tonnes.
From January to August of 2024, there were 98 791 landings and take-offs in Croatian airports, which was an increase of 12.4% compared to the same period of 2023. In the same period, a total of 9 400 thousand passengers embarked and disembarked in Croatian airports, which was an increase of 16.4%. The total traffic of freight in airports increased by 20.7% in the period from January to August of 2024 compared to the same period of 2023, and it amounted to 7 252 tonnes.1)

Sources and methods of data collection
Cumulative data are not always equal to the sum of individual monthly results due to the rounding of numbers to the nearest thousand.
The purpose of the survey is to collect data on the number of all aircraft movements and the traffic of passengers and freight on commercial operations in airports and air landing places of the Republic of Croatia.
The observation units and reporting units are airports in the Republic of Croatia. Data are collected in the form of electronic datasets and on the PZ/M-21 form.
Coverage
The data on air traffic (total aircraft movements, traffic of passengers and freight in airports) relate to the activities of the airports of Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Pula, Rijeka, Zadar, Osijek, Brač and the air landing place of Mali Lošinj.
The number of total aircraft movements in airports refers to the number of all (commercial and non-commercial) operations of landing and taking-off of an aircraft, except state flights (military, customs, police).
Traffic of passengers in airports includes the number of passengers who have departed or arrived on commercial operations. Passengers in direct transit are excluded. Direct transit passengers are passengers who, after a short stop, continue their journey on the same aircraft on a flight having the same flight number as the flight on which they arrived.
Traffic of freight in airports refers to the loaded and unloaded goods and mail on commercial operations other than the baggage of passengers. The freight in direct transit is excluded.
