The Croatian Bureau of Statistics conducted surveys on crop statistics on the basis of the Official Statistics Act (NN, No. 25/20), the Regulation (EC) No. 543/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 June 2009 concerning crop statistics and repealing Council Regulations (EEC) No. 837/90 and (EEC) No. 959/93, and Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2015/1557 of 13 July 2015 amending Regulation (EC) No. 543/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning crop statistics.
Sources and methods of data collection
The data on the first estimate of the production of some important crops in 2024 refer to the non-harvested field crops and are presented as the actual yield that will be used after the harvest is completed, providing that the grain has a strictly defined wetness value, even after the deduction of all losses.
The above-mentioned data are actually the first information issued by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics on the production of early crops. Production estimates are published for wheat, barley, oats and rapeseed.
The Croatian Bureau of Statistics estimated the data on areas sown with important crops on the basis of the following:
- results of the Annual survey on crop and animal production (PO-71 form)
- results of the Survey on Sown Area and Crops at the End of Spring Sowing (PO-22 form)
- available administrative sources of the Ministry of Agriculture, databases and registers of the Paying Agency for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development and other relevant sources.
Coverage and comparability
Reporting units are business entities and parts thereof defined in section A Agriculture, forestry and fishing according to the NKD 2007, as well as other business entities and parts thereof engaged in agricultural production but classified in other activities. The coverage is selective. Data are collected in two ways: by using the reporting method on the appropriate form or via a web-based application.
Reporting units are also private family farms engaged in agricultural production, for which data are collected by interviewers.
