The total traffic of passengers in Croatian airports amounted to 269 thousand in January 2023, which was 57.8% more than in January 2022, when the total traffic of passengers amounted to 170 thousand. Compared to January 2019, when the traffic of passengers amounted to 257 thousand, the traffic of passengers in January 2023 increased by 4.4%.
The largest traffic of passengers was recorded in the Zagreb Airport, with 220 thousand passengers, which was an increase of 58.0% compared to January 2022, when the traffic of passengers amounted to 139 thousand, and an increase of 16.3% compared to January 2019, when the traffic of passengers amounted to 189 thousand. This was followed by the Split Airport, with 31 thousand passengers, which was an increase of 58.0% compared to January 2022, when the traffic of passengers amounted to 20 thousand, and a decrease of 10.7% compared to January 2019, when the traffic of passengers amounted to 35 thousand, and the Dubrovnik Airport, with 14 thousand passengers, which was an increase of 50.0% compared to January 2022, when the traffic of passengers amounted to 9 thousand, and a decrease of 47.5% compared to January 2019, when the traffic of passengers amounted to 26 thousand.
The most significant international traffic of passengers was realised with German airports, 60 thousand passengers, which was an increase of 68.3% compared to January 2022 and a decrease of 20.9% compared to January 2019. The airports of the United Kingdom followed with 21 thousand passengers, which was 164.6% more than in the same period of the previous year and 105.8% more than in January 2019, and the airports of the Netherlands, with 19 thousand passengers, which was an increase of 43.6% compared to the same period of the previous year and of 64.7% compared to January 2019.
The total number of landings and take-offs in airports in January 2023 amounted to 4 584 movements, which was 14.6% more than in January 2022, when the total number of landings and take-offs in airports amounted to 3 999 movements, and 2.3% less than in January 2019, when the total number of landings and take-offs amounted to 4 692.
The total traffic of freight in airports in January 2023 amounted to 655 tonnes, which was a decrease of 3.5% compared to January 2022, when the total traffic of freight in airports amounted to 679 tonnes. Compared to January 2019, it was a decrease of 8.0%.

Sources and methods of data collection
Cumulative data are not always equal to the sum of individual monthly results due to the rounding of numbers to the nearest thousand.
The purpose of the survey is to collect data on the number of all aircraft movements and the traffic of passengers and freight on commercial operations in airports and air landing places of the Republic of Croatia.
The observation units and reporting units are airports in the Republic of Croatia. Data are collected in the form of electronic datasets and on the PZ/M-21 form.
Coverage
The data on air traffic (total aircraft movements, traffic of passengers and freight in airports) relate to the activities of the airports of Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, Pula, Rijeka, Zadar, Osijek, Brač and the air landing place of Mali Lošinj.
The number of total aircraft movements in airports refers to the number of all (commercial and non-commercial) operations of landing and taking-off of an aircraft, except state flights (military, customs, police).
Traffic of passengers in airports includes the number of passengers who have departed or arrived on commercial operations. Passengers in direct transit are excluded. Direct transit passengers are passengers who, after a short stop, continue their journey on the same aircraft on a flight having the same flight number as the flight on which they arrived.
Traffic of freight in airports refers to the loaded and unloaded goods and mail on commercial operations other than the baggage of passengers. The freight in direct transit is excluded.
