The total volume of gross agricultural production in 2022 decreased by 6.7% compared to 2021.
The fall in agricultural production in 2022 compared to 2021 was affected by the fall in crop production, of 8.6%, and by the fall in animal production, of 3.2%.
As regards crop production, the fall in the production in 2022 was affected by the fall in most of the products with a larger share in crop production (maize, fall of 26.8%, soya beans, fall of 14.5%, and wheat, fall of 1.6%).
Concerning the products with a larger share in animal production, the production of all products decreased in 2022 compared to 2021, except the production of cattle, which increased by 10.7%, and the production of poultry, which increased by 0.3%.
Within gross production in 2022, crop production contributed with 63.0% and animal production with 37.0%.

Sources and methods of data collection
Volume indices of agricultural production are calculated from data obtained through regular agricultural statistical surveys:
Coverage and comparability
According to the National Classification of Activities, 2007 version, the calculation of the agricultural production volume comprises section A Agriculture, forestry and fishing, division 01 Crop and animal production, hunting and related service activities, excluding group 01.7 Hunting, trapping and related service activities.
Agricultural production volume indices are calculated on the basis of data on the production of 65 agricultural products.
The aggregation factor for the calculation of indices was a moving three-year average of average producer prices obtained through reports on sale and purchase of agricultural products (PO-31a/Q and PO-31b/Q forms).
Definitions
Net volume indices of agricultural production were calculated out of the total production, lessened by products used for feeding the livestock.
Chain indices of agricultural production are calculated on the basis of data on production, which are then multiplied with aggregates (moving three-year average of prices obtained through statistical surveys on sale and purchase of agricultural products) for current and previous years, respectively. Chain indices are obtained by calculating the ratio of a current and previous year.
