RENTED AGRICULTURAL LAND PRICES, 2020

Data on the rents of specific categories of agricultural land (arable land, meadows and pastures) are presented for 2020 for the Republic of Croatia according to HR_NUTS 2021. – HR NUTS 2.

The average annual price of arable land rental in the Republic of Croatia in 2020 amounted to 793 kuna per hectare, of meadows to 525 kuna per hectare and of pastures to 343 kuna per hectare.

The average price of arable land rental in Pannonian Croatia in 2020 amounted to 811 kuna per hectare, of meadows to 487 kuna per hectare and of pastures to 307 kuna per hectare.

The average price of arable land rental in Adriatic Croatia amounted to 651 kuna per hectare, of meadows to 558 kuna per hectare and of pastures to 468 kuna per hectare.

In the City of Zagreb, the average price of arable land rental in 2020 amounted to 912 kuna per hectare and of meadows to 1 080 kuna per hectare.

The average price of arable land rental in North Croatia in 2020 amounted to 853 kuna per hectare, of meadows to 676 kuna per hectare and of pastures to 405 kuna per hectare.

NOTES ON METHODOLOGY

Sources and methods of data collection

Data on rented farmland are obtained from the available administrative data sources of the Paying Agency for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development and the Ministry of Agriculture. Data from the Farm Structure Survey (FSS) conducted by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics are also used for the calculations. Consequently, the results of the mentioned survey affect the calculation results of the agricultural rented prices. Data for 2020 were calculated based on FSS 2016. The data are calculated in line with the Common Methodology on Agricultural Land Prices and Rents (Eurostat, version of February 2017).

The data are collected exclusively for agricultural land used for agricultural purposes.

The value of any buildings on agricultural land is excluded from the price.

Data on the prices of specific categories of agricultural land (arable land, meadows and pastures) are presented. The aforementioned land categories were selected according to Eurostat’s recommendations.

Coverage

The data on renting of privately-owned agricultural land were collected in branch offices of the Paying Agency for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development according to the farmers’ statements/enclosed contracts when updating the data on the use of agricultural land on agricultural holdings in the Farm Register, while the data on renting of state-owned agricultural land were obtained from the records of the Ministry of Agriculture. 

Definitions

Arable land means land that is regularly cultivated and is included in a crop rotation system.

Meadow means land used permanently (five years or more) for growing fodder. It is not included in crop rotation. A meadow can be sown or natural (autochthonous).

Pasture means land used for livestock grazing.
