Since 2018, agricultural quarterly price indices have been calculated on the basis of 2015, in accordance with the Eurostat recommendations.
In the first quarter of 2021, the average producer prices of agricultural goods output increased by 8.4% compared to 2015 and decreased by 0.1% compared to the same quarter of 2020.
The prices of crop products output increased by 19.9% compared to 2015 and by 6.8% compared to the same quarter of 2020.
The increase in the prices of crop products compared to the same quarter of 2020 was influenced by the prices in all groups, except by the prices of potatoes (including seeds), which decreased by 48.0%, and the prices of wine, which decreased by 3.1%.
The prices of livestock, poultry and animal products output decreased by 0.4% compared to 2015 and by 5.8% compared to the same quarter of 2020. Compared to the same period last year, out of the groups of products with the largest share in animal output, a decrease was recorded in the prices of pigs, of 31.1% and an increase in the prices of milk, of 0.9%, and in the prices of cattle, of 1.2%.
The prices of goods and services currently consumed in agriculture (input I) increased by 3.7% in the first quarter of 2021 compared to 2015, while they increased by 6.8% compared to the same quarter of 2020. The mentioned increase was mostly influenced by an increase in the prices of animal feedingstuffs.

Sources and methods of data collection
The agricultural price indices for the Republic of Croatia have been calculated on the basis of the data on prices obtained through the quarterly surveys on sale and purchase of agricultural products as well as through other surveys carried out by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, from administrative data of the Ministry of Agriculture and from other administrative sources.
The agricultural price indices for the Republic of Croatia have been calculated on the 2005 basis within the national Phare 2005 Programme for the first time and the methodology used has been harmonised according to Eurostat recommendations.
Since 2018, the indices have been calculated on the 2015 basis.
The structure of weights is reviewed every five years according to the Eurostat methodology for agricultural price statistics, which means that the calculation of price indices is influenced by the weight structure from the base year. The Laspeyres formula is used to calculate the price indices.
The weight structure was calculated on the basis of the share of individual products in the purchase and sale of agricultural products as well as on the basis of the value of agricultural production and intermediate consumption from agricultural economic accounts.
Coverage
The agricultural price indices are calculated at the level of the Republic of Croatia.
